Compare the Market is seeking a detailed and experienced Data Test Engineer to join our Data team.
As a Data Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and executing tests to ensure the quality and reliability of our data pipelines, data integrations, and analytics solutions.
You will collaborate closely with data analysts, data modellers, data engineers, and data scientists to implement robust testing strategies and validate data accuracy across our platforms.
What You'll Do: Develop and implement test strategies, test plans, and test cases for validating data transformations, data quality rules, and data integrations.
Design and execute automated tests using tools and frameworks.
Test data ingestion using an automation test framework utilising metadata-driven config processes.
Perform data validation and verification by comparing data sets from different sources and ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Test data curation components to enable testing of enterprise data models and business access layers.
Collaborate with data engineers to identify and resolve data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.
Document test cases, test results, defects, and test coverage to support data governance and compliance requirements.
Execute tests for user acceptance, functional, and regression test cases across all layers of the data platform.
Participate in team meetings, sprint planning sessions, and retrospective meetings to contribute to the overall improvement of data quality and testing processes.
Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats.
Work with the broader IT team, business analysts, and data engineering & analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and contribute to the delivery of solutions.
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data testing, data quality management, and data validation techniques.
What You'll Bring: Tertiary Qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with extensive experience in the data space.
Proven experience of 5 years plus as a Data Test Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer, or similar role, with a focus on testing data pipelines, data warehouses, or analytics solutions.
Experience working on modern cloud infrastructure and data platforms is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with data integration tools and familiarity with ETL processes and data transformation workflows.
Experience with testing frameworks and tools for data validation and verification in distributed computing environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical data models.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders essential.
Understanding of end-to-end data and insights life cycle is essential.
