About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our local council as a Customer Service Officer .
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for residents, handling inquiries, providing information, and managing complaints to ensure a high standard of service is maintained.
Key Responsibilities: Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
Handle complaints with a calm and solutions-focused approach, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
Provide accurate information on council services, policies, and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date records of customer interactions and complaints in the council's CRM system.
Work collaboratively with other council departments to resolve customer issues.
Assist with general administrative tasks as required.
Key Selection Criteria: Proven experience in a customer service role, ideally within a local council or public sector environment.
Strong complaints handling skills, with the ability to de-escalate and resolve issues effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and internal teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using CRM systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Government / Council experience is a must!
