About us Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
Purpose Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager with preference to be based in Queensland Hydro Project Office based in Nambour, the Contracts Manager will play a critical role in our ability to achieve our project objectives by creating and maintaining strong relationships with contractors and suppliers. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and negotiating contracts and managing them through to contract close-out, ensuring the delivery of strategic commercial project leadership, operational management, guidance, and oversight for your assigned package of work. The Contracts Manager is required to ensure Queensland Hydro contracts are set and align with legislative requirements, relevant Queensland Government policies, commercial and contract best practices, and industry requirements.
The Contracts Manager – Lower Dam Borumba is responsible for delivering strategic commercial and contractual leadership to the Project for the Lower Dam package.
Key Responsibilities Responsible for implementing and delivering of the Contract Management Plan for the relevant package, and associated policies and procedures established and amended from time to time.Lead, manage, mentor, and empower the contracts team by providing support, guidance, performance management, staff development and issue resolution in consultation with the Senior Commercial Manager.For the project, manage payment activities, insurances and contract securities and levies in accordance with contractual requirements and the Queensland Hydro Commercial Principles.Manage the project monitoring and reporting on contractors and contract performance in accordance with Queensland Hydro's commercial reporting requirements.Oversee the preparation of commercial contract level reports for the project delivery team as required for contract management purposes and attend any Project Delivery team meetings as necessary.Ensure the commercial elements of all Queensland Hydro contracts and contractor relationships are conducted in accordance with the Queensland Hydro Commercial Contracting Principles, risk allocations, Commercial best practice and relevant contract terms on the project.Maintain awareness of project level commercial and contract management activities including progress and broader context and understanding of the implications.About you 10+ years construction, commercial and contract management experience, ideally within a large project delivery environment.Tertiary or above qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commercial, Law, Construction, or a relevant discipline.Experience working with government stakeholders is highly desirable.Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a complex environment within required timeframes and budgets.Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to apply sound judgement to decision making.Demonstrates strong leadership experience with a proven ability to effectively lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve organizational goals and drive high performance.Affiliation with applicable industry body (i.e. RICS, AIQS, ICE, CMP, IACCM).If you are excited to play a key role in Queensland's renewable energy future and you have the following attributes, we encourage you to apply.
