This Construction Superintendent role is geared toward a highly experienced individual who has managed and overseen commercial construction projects, with a focus on both new builds and renovations. Here's a detailed breakdown of the job's responsibilities, required skills, and offered benefits:
Key Responsibilities:Supervision of Construction Projects:The Superintendent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations on the construction site, overseeing employees, subcontractors, and materials to ensure the project runs smoothly, on schedule, and within budget.This role involves managing both new builds (from ground up) and renovations, including demolition and complete rebuilds, with a focus on quality and safety.Coordinating Subcontractors:One of the key tasks is coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing subcontractors to ensure their work is completed on time, to specification, and safely.The Superintendent must ensure subcontractors adhere to the project schedule and quality standards.Time Management & Scheduling:The role requires effective time management skills to plan, schedule, and oversee the work being completed. This includes working from the project schedule, tracking progress, and adjusting as needed.Maintaining a daily flow of operations, job site deliveries, and inventory management is critical for keeping the project on track.Job Site Coordination:Oversee job site deliveries, ensuring materials are delivered on time and stored safely.Maintain an inventory of company-purchased materials, ensuring that the right materials are available when needed and properly stored.As a representative of the company, the Superintendent will work closely with the project management staff, clients (including owners), and field personnel to ensure that communication is clear and that work proceeds according to plan.Safety Management:Maintaining a strong safety record on-site is essential. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards, including OSHA guidelines, and will address any safety issues that arise.The role requires OSHA 10 certification, with OSHA 30 certification preferred. CPR/First Aid certification is also a plus.Quality Control:The Superintendent will inspect work in progress, ensuring it meets all specifications and quality standards, and address any issues that arise promptly to keep the project moving forward.The Superintendent will also oversee the preparation of record/as-built drawings to document the final conditions of the project.Technology Use:The role requires basic technology skills, such as the ability to generate and review reports, records, and communications via laptop, tablet, and mobile phone. This includes using technology to communicate with the project team, keep records up to date, and track project progress.Self-Performing Tasks:Depending on project needs, the Superintendent may be asked to self-perform interior fit-up work (e.g., carpentry, drywall, etc.) or implement temporary protection measures on the job site.Project Close-Out:Oversee the project from start to finish, including close-out, ensuring that all documentation is in place, final inspections are completed, and the project is delivered to the client.Required Skills & Experience:Experience: A minimum of 10 years working as a Construction Superintendent on commercial projects is required, with experience in both new construction and renovation projects.Healthcare & Laboratory Renovation Experience: Experience in healthcare facility and laboratory renovations is desired, due to the specific needs and regulatory requirements of these types of projects.Education: While a high school diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement, experience and a solid track record in construction management will be key to success.Ability to Read and Interpret Plans: Must be proficient in reading, understanding, and analyzing construction drawings and specifications to ensure that projects meet design specifications and requirements.Scheduling and Planning: The Superintendent must have experience planning, scheduling, and laying out work for employees and subcontractors.Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety procedures, including OSHA regulations (OSHA 10 is required, and OSHA 30 is preferred).Additional Certifications (Preferred):OSHA 30 Certification (must be completed within 6 months of hire).CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred but not required).If Offered Employment:Pre-employment checks: Successful candidates must pass a physical exam, drug screen, and background check as part of the hiring process.Benefits:Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability InsuranceMedical Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)Section 125 Plan (Pre-tax benefit options)401(k) with Pre-Tax & Roth options and company matchingPaid Holidays and Paid Time Off (PTO)Educational Assistance (to support career growth and training)Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for personal or family supportCompany Mobile Phone and Company Vehicle (for business use)
