Justice reinvestment is a long-term, community-led approach that aims to prevent crime, address the drivers of contact with the justice system, and improve justice outcomes for First Nations peoples in a particular place or community.
An interim Justice Reinvestment Unit is to be established in the Attorney-General's Department to support communities funded under the justice reinvestment programs to successfully implement their initiatives. The Interim Justice Reinvestment Unit will also lead the development of a justice reinvestment measurement and evaluation framework, and the design of the final Justice Reinvestment Unit.
Roles in the interim Unit will be on a 12-month temporary basis.
Successful candidates at the APS5-6 level will support funded justice reinvestment initiatives to develop and implement local justice reinvestment strategies and to fulfil reporting requirements. You will also facilitate and deliver training to build community capability in and understanding of justice reinvestment, and support the establishment of justice reinvestment communities of practice.
The successful candidate at the EL1 level will lead the Unit's community capability building support work to support funded initiatives including at critical or complex stages of their justice reinvestment journey. In this capacity you will supervise APS officers, develop and implement work plans that provide strategic direction, undertake risk assessment and management activities, and take responsibility for the achievement of key deliverables.
Roles may involve some travel, including to remote locations.

Ideal candidates for the APS5-6 level roles will have: highly developed cultural competency, an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities, and demonstrated capacity to work with and communicate sensitively with First Nations peoplesexceptional communication, engagement and interpersonal skills across a broad range of formats with a proven ability to tailor communications to the audienceexcellent organisational and planning skills, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple competing priorities at once in tight timeframesexperience with and/or understanding of First Nations program initiativesThe following attributes, skills and/or experience will also be highly regarded: demonstrated capacity to undertake strengths-based, trauma-informed community engagementan understanding of, or experience with, community-led place-based approaches, including Justice Reinvestmentexperience working with/within the Coalition of Peaks, community-controlled organisations and Commonwealth and state and territory governments.Further to the above, ideal candidates for the EL1 level roles will also have: well-developed leadership, coaching and mentoring skillsexperience managing complex projects with the ability to manage risks, budgets and resource allocation, and project timelines effectivelyability to navigate complex government processes and effectively build and maintain strategic relationships. #J-18808-Ljbffr
