Elliott Gray is thrilled to be partnering with ACT Law Society as they look for a Communications Officer to join the Engagement Team.
The ACT Law Society is the peak body for legal practitioners in the ACT, providing member support and education, advocating for good law and regulating practitioners to protect the public. Due to an internal transfer, they are now looking for a talented and driven individual to join the Engagement Team in a permanent position as their Communications Officer.
Reporting to the Manager Engagement and Deputy CEO, this role will be responsible for curating content to develop relevant, informative, and engaging communications for members of the ACT Law Society and relevant stakeholders. You will be capable and confident in:
Developing a wide range of communications, including electronic direct mail (EDMs), publications, brochures, social media, and website content, to effectively meet the needs of our members and stakeholders. Collaborating with the team across the Society to handle media and stakeholder enquiries, including media monitoring, writing press releases, preparing spokespeople for interviews, drafting speeches, and liaising with journalists.
Working in a small team, this role will also be required to adapt to changing and competing priorities and step in to help the broader team.
So, what are we looking for?
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are an obvious one, but we're also keen to hear from Communications professionals who have excellent attention to detail and take the initiative to ensure engaging content is being delivered throughout the year – autonomy is key!
You will have the ability to truly understand what appeals to an audience and create meaningful content that will resonate. You have strong stakeholder engagement skills and demonstrate your ability to work closely with teams to draw out the right content for the right piece. Previous experience in member organisations or in the legal sector would be highly desirable, although not essential!
