Communications Account DirectorThe roleSEC Newgate's Adelaide team is looking for an experienced public affair professional to work on projects that help clients make a difference. The successful candidate is likely to have come from the federal or state government (political office or department), a media organisation, a peak body or a corporate affairs function of a business.This role is a 12-month fixed term contract covering parental leave . As part of the SEC Newgate Communications team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex issues for government, not-for-profit and corporate clients. You will be a core team member who will help provide clients with a truly integrated solution when facing a complex communications challenge – this includes strategy development and implementation, issues management, government relations, organisational reviews, media relations, community and stakeholder engagement, market and social research and digital communications.We are looking for a high-performing consultant who is:Understanding of the political and policy development process, communications, current affairs, and the mediaCollaborative and adaptable: You will have a can-do attitude, flexibility and great interpersonal skillsCurious and proactive: Identifying innovative ideas to progress projects for clientsCalm and dedicated: A good sense of humour and ability to balance multiple deadlines to contribute effectively and constructively to your project teams and across multiple practice areasSelf-starter, able to lead projects as well as collaborate and teamwork within client teamsCommitted to ongoing professional developmentCan actively seek new opportunities to collaborate with consultants across SEC Newgate and identify and deliver integrated solutionsIs well-connected and has a strong network of South Australian contactsTypical practical skills and experience should include:5+ years of Corporate Communications or Public Affairs background via a government, peak body, media or corporate roleRelevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Politics or Social ScienceA genuine and keen interest in politics, communications, current affairs, government and the media with established networks in these areasStrong writing capabilities – the confidence and ability to write clearly and succinctlyStrong analytical skills to absorb complex and technical information and turning it into clear and concise informationOrganisation skills – capable of setting up and adhering to your own system of structuring your work day, prioritising tasks, methodically completing regular tasks and proactive working on implementation of communications plansStrong interpersonal, verbal and listening skillsStrong networks across government, bureaucracy and/or mediaPositive approach with a good sense of humourAbout UsSEC Newgate Australia120+ People - 6 offices nationallyAs Australia's largest full-service strategic communications firm, SEC Newgate understands the environment and helps to build a communications and engagement strategy that goes to the heart of our client's challenges.
