The Harry James Group is working in partnership with a globally recognized EPC who are currently expanding due to current and new projects secured. The position of Commissioning Manager ("CM") will be part of the growing Project Delivery Team and report to the Manager of Project Delivery. The CM is responsible for overseeing the Project Commissioning Plan, Internal Interface (System Engineer, Project Engineers, Project Manager, etc.), and Onsite/Remote Technical Support. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management, and construction principles, as well as experience in high power electrical systems. This position will be a member of the internal and customer technical Subject Matter Expert Team for ESS Products and Projects and will work closely with the following groups: Software Delivery, Product Delivery, Project Management, Commissioning Manager, and other various teams to ensure ESS projects fulfill customer functionality and contract requirements. Reporting and Work Location: This position shall report to the Manager of Project Delivery. Location: Australia Ability to travel to domestic and international project sites and/or vendors (Approx. 50 – 70%), should have easy access to a major airport. Minimum Skills Requirements Education: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering, or equivalent work experience. 5 years' experience with renewable energy (Solar Utility Scale) and/or Energy Storage System, Power System Design, Communication Network, and minor Software. Job Specific Responsibilities: Lead commissioning team at site or remotely. Collaborate with the relevant team in the preparation and coordination of project technical materials. Prepare and finalize the Commissioning Plan. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on market rules, local AHJ/utility requirements, and contracts. Communicate commissioning plan and performance test procedures and activities with the client. Prepare and maintain commissioning time schedule. Organize start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract. Ensure that commissioning plan and performance tests procedures are followed. Safeguard compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning. Ensure that safe commissioning practices are followed. Ensure that all test results are documented according to Wärtsilä instructions. Manage integration of project quality documentation to commissioning procedures. Maintain good reporting practices. Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plant. Ensure safe and reliable function of the plant and equipment. Ownership of administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to: service reports, issue logging/tracking, job safety analysis, quality compliance. Drive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other organizations to effectively resolve customer problems and inquiries. Additional Job Requirements Familiar with lithium ion battery. Familiar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction, and operational issues. Experience and understanding in CAD drawing. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds. Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible. Experience with utility scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, PV, wind turbines, flywheels, etc.). Understanding of Inverter, Converter, Transformer, Battery, Circuit breaker, Fuse, AC/DC power supply electrical equipment. Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices. Applicant should be able to explain in detail the electrical principles of voltage, current, power, energy, charge, resistance, inductance, capacitance, DC voltage, AC voltage, single-phase, and three-phase power and other fundamental electrical engineering concepts. Applicant should be able to read and understand drawings of electrical controls for industrial automation, switchgear control and protection, involvement with medium voltage equipment and networks schematics. Especially single-line, three-line, fire safety systems, and communication diagrams. Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, power quality analysis, harmonics and their operation. Ability to configure and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
