The role of Coastal Ranger - Natural Reserves is waiting for you at Barwon Coast.   About Barwon Coast Barwon Coast Committee of Management is responsible for managing coastal Crown land in and around Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Breamlea. The coastal Crown land reserves comprise of important habitat for many flora and fauna species, and includes coastal areas characterised by sandy beaches, dune systems, cliffs, shore platforms, and an estuary. Through our Natural Resource Management Team, Barwon Coast manage and protect the coastal reserves.  
Our purpose is to care for Country respectfully, preserving the coast for people to connect, understand, and protect whilst enjoying the unique natural environment. We are seeking a Coastal Ranger - Natural Reserves who will play an important role in supporting Barwon Coast maintain and protect our coastal reserves.
The Role You will be part of a team who are responsible for carrying out a range of defined natural resource management works, operational maintenance, conservation and project works throughout the coastal reserve. A self-starter that has a broad range of experience in natural resource management.
The Coastal Ranger - Natural Reserves will be responsible for:
Implementation of the coastal reserves annual works program with guidance and routine supervision.Implementation and monitoring of effective pest plant and animal controls within the coastal reserves.Participate in a range of Natural Resource Management planning activities including recovery plans, revegetation, pest plant/animal plans.Undertake and maintain new plantings throughout the coastal reserve.The consistent and efficient performance of rostered activities including maintenance works such as planting, minor tree maintenance, landscaping, cleaning, building maintenance, mowing, fencing, rubbish management, and other duties as directed.Lawfully operate heavy plant, including but not limited to trucks, tractors, agricultural machinery and other associated equipment.About you To be successful in this role you will have:
"Hands on" practical general gardening maintenance skills.Ability to safely operate horticultural plant and equipment. Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly. Possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal with people with professionalism, courtesy, tact and understanding.Ability to work in a team, displaying respect for all members and working cooperatively towards planned outcomes.Qualifications and expertise Qualifications or skills relevant to Natural Resource Management are highly regarded.Driving Licence (essential - preferably manual), Light Truck Licence (desirable).The following Certificates; Front end loader; Chainsaw; Farm Chemical Users - endorsed for PAPP and 1080 use (preferable).Coastal Plant identification skills, indigenous and introduced (preferable).Experience in identifying and resolving minor maintenance issues. Demonstrated experience in liaising with members of the public, being well-presented and friendly and having a strong customer service focus including the ability to manage difficult situations positively.The successful candidate will understand the importance of upholding our workplace values in all they do when Caring for our Coast - Commitment, Authenticity, Respect and Excellence.
