Join Mackay Regional Council – Lead and Inspire in a Safety-Focused Role We're seeking a dynamic Coordinator for Workplace Health & Safety to take the lead on developing and driving our safety initiatives.
About this opportunity: This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented team of safety professionals under limited direction, focusing on building systems, tools, resources, and training that ensure our health, safety, and compliance objectives align with both organisational and legislative standards.
In this role, you will: Lead and support a skilled team of WHS professionals. Drive the development of health and safety systems across all levels of Council. Oversee training programs that align with best practice, compliance, and emerging trends. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to champion a strong and proactive safety culture. Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field. Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator qualification. Lead ICAM Investigator qualification or a commitment to obtaining one. QLD "C" Class Drivers Licence and General Construction Induction Training. Strong understanding of the Work Health & Safety Act 2011, Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, and relevant Australian Standards. Desirable: Extensive experience in Workplace Health & Safety management within a complex, multi-faceted environment. Background in statistical analysis methodologies to support safety insights and reporting. Why work for Mackay Regional Council?
