The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) position is a clinical nursing role based in the Brisbane Operations Centre (OpCen) and plays an integral role in the integration of the QAS Clinical Hub into the broader health care system. Key aspects of this role include completing clinical information callbacks, demonstrating a knowledge of and referring into appropriate equivalent pathways for healthcare delivery, and employing clinically appropriate hospital avoidance strategies where possible.
The CNC will also foster and build positive therapeutic relationships across organisations and within referral pathways, while working collaboratively with Paramedics, Emergency Medical Dispatchers, the broader QAS organisation and with other health care and emergency service staff.
We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes: Proven high level ability to work effectively within a professional multi-disciplinary team in an environment of competing priorities and needs with finite resources.Demonstrated high level knowledge and detailed understanding of health service delivery and the issues impacting on the health care system statewide.Demonstrated ability to recognise the fundamental role of pre-hospital care as a part of the broader patient journey and incorporating this knowledge into clinical decision making to help promote positive patient outcomes and experiences.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal and external clinicians, partners, stakeholders and work groups.Demonstrate a commitment to education of self and others within the Clinical Hub environment, with a focus of professional development and interdisciplinary knowledge building.The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role: Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and hold a current annual practising certificate. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.It is an express condition of employment for all people who are to perform roles with direct patient contact to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following infectious diseases during their employment: Diphtheria; Tetanus; Pertussis (Whooping Cough); Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR); Varicella (Chickenpox); Influenza. Please note, there may be additional vaccination requirements depending on individual circumstances as specified in the QAS Infection Control Framework.Experience working as a Registered Nurse within an Emergency Department or Critical Care setting.It is highly desirable that applicants also have clinical experience in patient Triage.Whilst not mandatory, a post graduate qualification in a related field may be advantageous.The position will require participation in a shift work pattern (including weekends and public holidays).Applications to remain current for 12 months.
