About the Role:Community Support Centre Innisfail is seeking a new team member to fulfill the role of Child and Family Counsellor.
This position is Permanent Full-Time (38 hours per week; SCHADS Level 4.1 -5.1 $43.08 - $49.28/hr).
The Child and Family Counsellor is based at CSCI and may include outreach to Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach, and Babinda.
There may be times when service is provided outside of ordinary work hours to meet the needs of clients.Provide specialist therapeutic counselling to children, young people (unborn to 18 years) and their families using a trauma-informed lens and child-centred practice, and within an evidence-based and case plan framework.Conduct intake and assessments, including reviews of referral information, and identifying strengths, vulnerabilities and needs.Develop counselling plan with clients, which include goals of counselling, and monitor continuously to evaluate for effectiveness.Maintain accurate, up-to-date and appropriate client records including assessments and counselling plans.All assessments, interventions and counselling techniques are to be conducted to standards that are in line with organisational goals, legislative and practice standards and funding guidelines.Who are we looking for:Essential Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling, social work or a relevant related field.OR
A minimum three (3) years experience in the use of current and relevant theoretical frameworks to provide interventions to support children and young people who have been sexually abused or at risk of harm.AND
Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with individuals and families from different diverse cultures, ages, and experiences.Demonstrated experience in providing specialist therapeutic counselling within a case plan framework.Ability to work collegially within a team environment.Possession of a 'Working with Children' Suitability card.Possession of an open driver's licence.Desired Skills, Attributes, and Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in best practice counselling skills using child-centred approaches.Demonstrated experience in facilitation and group work with children, young people, and parent/carers.Knowledge of and ability to work collaboratively with other government and non-government agencies.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written including high computer literacy skills.Demonstrated engagement skills with vulnerable groups within the community eg: disabilities, culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds, young carers, LGBTIQA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment as well as independently.Why Join Community Support Centre Innisfail?5 Weeks Annual Leave (pro-rata) + 3 days Emergency/Disaster LeaveSalary sacrificing benefitsFlexible work arrangements as per SCHCDS Award and National Employment StandardsProfessional development/training opportunitiesHow to Apply?CSCI actively encourage applications from any background including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
