With a collaborative and inclusive culture, the team at WorkCover Queensland strive to set the standard in worker's compensation and operate with a shared vision of excellence, integrity, respect, and responsiveness.  About the RoleIn this newly created role reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Risk Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership across WorkCover's risk and assurance, common law claims, regulatory and complaints management, and corporate relations functions. You will play a critical role in shaping WorkCover's risk management frameworks, overseeing common law claims, managing regulatory obligations, and driving a customer-centric risk culture that aligns with WorkCover's purpose and objectivesAs a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CRO will guide the strategic direction of risk and assurance, bringing insight into best practice governance and compliance. The role has direct accountability for over 40 FTE and manages a budget of approximately $8.5 million, with an additional $75 million for external legal panel services. Key responsibilities:Leading WorkCover's risk management framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.Providing expert guidance to the CEO, Board, and Risk and Compliance Committee on risk and control matters.Overseeing legal functions and managing the common law claims portfolio.Developing and managing key regulatory and corporate relationships to bolster WorkCover's compliance culture.Championing WorkCover's commitment to continuous improvement by driving process re-engineering and integrating feedback to strengthen service delivery.About YouWe are seeking a senior risk professional with demonstrated experience in regulated financial services or insurance. You will have a track record of embedding risk as a strategic driver within complex organisations, with an emphasis on compliance and a proven ability to build resilient, high-performing teams.
