LOCATION: Canberra TENURE: Ongoing SYNOPSIS: Treasury is seeking a dynamic senior executive at the SES Band 2 level with aptitude and enthusiasm to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department. You will contribute to setting the strategic priorities of the department and its portfolio agencies. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will report directly to the Deputy Secretary Small Business, Housing, Corporate and Law Group. You will be responsible for driving improved operational performance and leading six branches providing corporate services including Communications, Governance, Information Services, Public Information, People and Organisational Strategy, and Finance. You will also represent Treasury and contribute to the broader Australian Public Service policy agenda. In this role, you will need to leverage your excellent leadership and collaboration skills to set the strategic direction for your division. You will possess exceptional stakeholder engagement capability and capacity to work effectively with Ministers and their staff, the Senior Executive, and key internal and external stakeholders. Drawing on your proven professional and senior executive management experience, you will be comfortable operating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and changeable environment. Desirable Qualifications/Experience Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate: Exceptional customer service to understand the perspectives of stakeholders and deliver high-quality products and services that enable and enhance the performance of the organisation. Well-developed judgement and strategic thinking skills that enable you to effectively manage high-priority projects simultaneously and anticipate and analyse issues from a range of perspectives. Extensive experience in managing the development and implementation of organisational policies, programs, and approaches to work that are complex and of high importance. Exceptional leadership and people management capabilities. The ability to provide impartial and forthright advice to the senior executive and stakeholders and to make challenging decisions to achieve enterprise-wide outcomes. High-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills that make you well equipped to represent the Treasury and the Australian Government at a range of forums. Ability to thrive under pressure and effectively perform in a fast-paced and changing environment. Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field including but not limited to business, governance, communications, finance, human resources, or ICT is highly desirable.
