Top-shelf Industrial Space.About The RoleAs the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will lead operational excellence across our industrial construction business, with a strong focus on Human Resources (HR), organisational development and Health, Safety and Wellbeing. You will play a critical role in driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety and employee engagement. You will work closely with the senior leadership team to oversee day-to-day operations, enhance performance, and manage risk while aligning operational goals with the company's strategic vision. This is a permanent position based in our Rhodes office, with frequent travel to Bathurst required.Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources & Talent Management:Collaborate with People & Culture to develop and implement strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and employee development.Drive initiatives to enhance workplace culture, employee relations, and job satisfaction.Oversee workforce planning, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal policies.Safety Management:Lead and champion a safety-first culture throughout the organisation.Ensure all construction sites and manufacturing facilities adhere to strict safety regulations and compliance standards.Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and processes to minimise accidents and incidents, and continuously improve safety performance across all sites.Oversee safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure proper training is provided for all employees.Roll out proactive safety initiatives that align with the company objectives.Strategic Growth & Performance:Develop and execute P&C/safety strategies to achieve business/board objectives.Monitor and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiency.Act as a key member of the executive team, collaborating closely with other department heads.Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Communicate regularly with the General Manager and board of directors, providing updates on HR & Safety operational performance and key initiatives.Provide direction on IT support and Fleet management.About YouAs an experienced COO, you will manage all facets of HR and Safety for Akura while supporting corporate services. In this role, you'll work closely with a dedicated team to lead human resources, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and promote a positive workplace culture.
