Chief Operating Officer

Details of the offer

Expressions of interest are sought from all existing APS at EL2 level or high performing EL1s, with a proven track record acting at EL2, ready for higher duties. The opportunity is a non-ongoing role to cover long service leave for 8 months, for the period 17/03/2025 - 14/11/2025, although there may be options for an ongoing role in the longer term. The role is based in Sydney although the IGTO office works hybrid. Candidates from Canberra, or other locations, are open to apply, noting that attendance at the Sydney office will be required at least once a fortnight, including overnight stays (to be discussed with suitable candidates). This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in a small Commonwealth agency. The COO is a member of the IGTO Executive Team and leads all the corporate functions within the IGTO agency, including HR, finance, ICT, governance and risk, ensuring compliance with the PGPA Act 2013. The COO leads a small team of 3 (legal, finance and ICT) professionals and manages a range of external contracts with service providers. The COO provides expert advice to the Inspector-General and Executive Team across all corporate services, with a particular personal focus on HR and workforce matters. The IGTO agency is undergoing considerable change, and the COO will be a change agent, supporting the Inspector-General in developing and delivering strategic changes, including building capability, staff development and engagement, workforce planning, and building a culture in which everyone is valued and heard. The role would particularly suit someone with HR experience looking to broaden their skill set and leadership skills. The key duties of the position include: Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines. An eye for detail, to ensure compliance across a wide range of PGPA Act responsibilities. Experience in managing and developing a small team. Strong relationship building skills to build trust quickly across the workforce and the Executive. Experience in managing HR policy and practice, including workforce development and change. The position is available in Sydney, but applicants from all locations are welcome, subject to the need for regular travel to Sydney (fares will be paid by the IGTO agency). #J-18808-Ljbffr
