Job Description Lead the transformation, development & delivery of exceptional, client-centric services to meet the evolving needs of vulnerable members of the NSW Jewish community
Transformative leadership to create sustainable, innovative human services Deliver exceptional aged care, disability, family and mental health services Lead an outstanding team of 150 and 500+ volunteers across seven sites The organisation JewishCare has been the major service provider for vulnerable members of the New South Wales Jewish community ('Community') for over 85 years. This not-for-profit organisation offers over 25 programs via specialist teams , which support over 2,000 people each year across four services ('Services'): aged care; disability; family & child support, and mental health & wellbeing.
JewishCare takes an holistic, person-centred approach, working closely with clients and their families to help them feel cared for, valued and understood. Each Service provided reflects JewishCare's mission to support and strengthen the resilience and independence of Community members in need.
The role The CEO is responsible for JewishCare's day-to-day strategic, operational and organisational leadership. The CEO reports to the Board and leads a team of ~150 FTEs and over 500 volunteers across seven service locations, as well as in clients' homes.
This leadership role is centred on a focus on building a foundation for long-term sustainability; consistently meeting compliance and quality standards, and achieving strong engagement with clients, staff and the Community, while delivering exceptional client care.
The role has the following responsibilities .
Community & clients Understanding the Community and clients Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Community Maintaining and enhancing JewishCare's brand and reputation Developing a sustainable strategy Implementing the strategy and business-plan with clear performance indicators Establishing a culture of innovation, particularly in Service delivery Operations & impact Ensuring positive client outcomes by designing and delivering consistent, high-quality Services Growing revenue and overall profitability Delivering accurate, timely reporting and analytics Team leadership & transformation Leading, inspiring & developing the tea Cultivating a positive, inclusive and collaborative organisational culture Designing, imbuing and landing a cohesive transformation Meeting the compliance standards Ensuring safety among staff, volunteers and clients Improving and implementing risk management frameworks Stakeholder management & relationships Maintaining strong relationships with key agencies and regulators Partnering with the Board Being visible and engaged Desired Skills and Experience The ideal candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced CEO or 2IC with extensive operational experience in the human services sector. The new CEO may have a specialisation in one or more of the Services—such as aged care or disability—or adjacent regulated services, such as healthcare or education. It is also possible that the new CEO comes from a commercial or government background, as long as they demonstrate commercial acumen.
Regardless of their sectoral background, the appointed candidate must have a passion for leading a purpose-driven organisation focused on client care. They should have hands-on experience leading a similarly sized service-delivery team and preferably have reported to a board. An understanding of governance structures and regulatory compliance is essential.
While the ideal candidate is Jewish, the Board is open to candidates from different backgrounds. Irrespective of their background, the CEO must be capable of developing a strong understanding of the Community and possess personal values aligned with JewishCare's values.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent is expected, and higher degrees are well-regarded.
Location The CEO is based at JewishCare's offices in Woollahra, five kilometres southeast of the Sydney CBD.
