Bureau Veritas is committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect.The Role:A member of the coal laboratory and coal processing team with the responsibility to carry out laboratory, exploration and production sample processing and Coal Wash Plant test work under the supervision of the Manager or Appoint Project Manager.Responsibilities:Comply with the HSE policies and programs.Report (immediately) all client complaints/concerns, incidents, injuries, and accidents to the Business Unit Manager and coordinate investigations as required.Identify and report (immediately) hazards to the relevant Supervisor, Business Unit Manager or Safety Representative.Assist the site to prevent and/or minimise environmental impact, through implementation of the guidelines documented in the Bureau Veritas "Environmental Management Plan".Assist in reducing the number of hazards, accidents and incidents in your area.Perform SafetyWALKS, HSE Inspections, and other audits relating to health, safety and environment.Attend and participate in HS&E training and toolbox talks as required.Communicate concerns relating to safety and environmental issues to the Laboratory management or safety representative.Perform physicochemical analysis of coal in accordance with international (ISO) and American (ASTM) standards: ISO Ash, Rapid Ash, Calorific Value, Moisture in the sample, Total Moisture, Total Sulfur, Phosphorus, Gieseler, Froth Flotation, Sizing, Geochemical float sink and froth flotation separation of coal and standard coal analysis.Plan and schedule test work within the guidelines and priorities set by Business Unit Manager or the Project Manager.Undertake laboratory analysis on production, exploration, trains and superintendent coal samples.Undertake coal exploration samples processing, i.e., geochemical work such flotation and density separation as required.Participate in Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) systematic audit as required.Perform coal laboratory analysis, coal sampling and sample preparation at the Port terminals and/or an on-site Mine laboratory as required.Perform laboratory equipment calibrations.Validate laboratory test results to ensure accuracy.The Requirements:Minimum 3 years experience preferably within a coal mining operation.Minimum 3 years experience in coal sampling, sample preparation and coal testing.Experience in Coal Handling Preparation Wash Plant (CHPP) circuits sampling and processing.Experience in Coal Exploration Programs – Coal Flotation and Density Separation.Experience working on a Mine site – on-site laboratory environment.Experience in coal training sampling, preparation and analysis.It is desirable to have:Experience in Coal Vessel sampling, preparation and analysis.Grade 12 years.Ability to work under pressure.Highly motivated.Proven organisational skills.Professional attitude and is flexible.Safety conscious and has a customer service focus.Good communications and interpersonal skills.High degree of productivity and efficiency.The Benefits:We offer a competitive salary of $73,000 per year + super and an opportunity to advance your career in a leading global organisation, as well as:Fantastic Training and Development opportunities; an annual review to plan your career development.Free access to our Employee Assistance Program supported by TELUS Health.Free onsite parking.This role offers more than building a resume—it's a chance to leave your mark.
