About the Role The Business Operations and Improvement Division is responsible for delivering essential customer-centric services and solutions that add value, help people get their job done and ensures DoT meets its compliance obligations. Transport Regulatory Operations (TRO) is a Branch within the Department of Transport and Planning, and has the responsibility to manage the infringement and enforcement of ticketing, behavioural and parking offences committed across the public transport network and Clearway parking offences.
TRO works closely with many stakeholders and agencies to deliver:
Authorised officer regulation and governance;Forensic evidence – Network CCTV;Clearway enforcement system promoting compliance; andAccident Towing Industry complaint investigations.This work contributes to a sustainable passenger-focused public transport and road system. The regulatory excellence of TRO Branch is realised through integrity, empathic engagement, and competence, drawing on the capability and leadership of our people. The branch proactively looks for opportunities to improve its effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities Undertake investigations, assessments and make decisions on requests for internal reviews related to public transport offences.Work collaboratively with teams across the branch to ensure that all processes in administering reviews comply with legislation and regulations, that accurate information and advice is provided and that policies and legislation are followed to ensure the successful prosecution of public transport offences.Prepare all correspondence on reviews against the public transport offence including draft responses from relevant signatories as well as internal delegate approval processes and associated documentation.Develop and maintain constructive relationships across the branch and department and with public transport operators, Public Transport Victoria, the Department of Justice and Regulation and courts.Strive for regulatory excellence through integrity, empathetic engagement and competence and uphold the VPS Code of Conduct, values and behaviours.Proactively contribute to continuous process improvement in systems and procedures for the branch to deliver the regulatory activities as effectively as possible.Contribute to other branch initiatives, deliverables, projects and other tasks as required.Qualifications and Experience Mandatory An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, communications or a similar discipline.Recent experience in a similar subject matter.A relevant tertiary degree would be highly regarded.What we offer Meaningful work making Victorian communities more accessible and liveable.Professional growth and development opportunities across the department and the wider Victorian Public Services.A hybrid working model focused on collaboration and teamwork.Optimal work-life balance initiatives including flexible working arrangements.Opportunity to work across multiple urban and suburban hubs.We prioritise the development of a safe and inclusive culture.Culture Value We are an equal opportunity employer, embracing a diverse range of applicants such as veterans, and people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQIA community members, individuals with disabilities and/or health conditions, as well as those from varied faith and cultural backgrounds.
