Opportunities could be based in either Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Boasting a team of highly respected and experienced personnel, our consultants work in close partnership with our clients and are embedded within a vibrant team, working on multi-million dollar projects that are at the cutting edge of innovation in Defence munitions and the creation of sovereign defence capability.
We are looking to engage with Capability Development – Project Management professionals of varying levels of seniority to join our team and provide program and product management services to the Commonwealth. In addition to the skills and knowledge listed below, the more senior roles may be involved with team development, mentoring, documentation and client engagement.
Capability Development - Project Managers As a capability focused area in Guided Weapons Explosive Ordnance, the work our Branch seeks MSP support with is predominantly project level artefacts that satisfy the various Capability Committee Frameworks, at the various Gate milestones (i.e., pre-Gate 0 to Gate 2). In these roles you will need to know/have/demonstrate the following (by Directorate):
Project Management and/or LOG, ILS background Project Management background and T&E knowledge How the project-level artefacts interface with the various Gates and Committees How to undergo planning, preparing, drafting technical documents in support of business cases and/or sustainment funding proposals for CABSUBs (including cost models) in relation to: Infrastructure development (renovating and new) Warehousing/storage requirements Supply and distribution networks Transport solutions Capability development and realisation (not delivery) Typically these Capability Development - Project Management Professionals: Are accountable for providing support in requirements definition and designing outcomes, planning progressive delivery, delivering the capabilities and embedding the outcomes on programs/products across the Defence Capability Life Cycle (CLC) Manage and monitor core elements and staff associated with the program Manage program organisational interdependencies including; Defence capability and benefits management, CLC and management control, stakeholder management, organisational governance, financial management, resource management and risk management Develop, implement and share strategies and tools for the continuous planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects, including identification and resolution of risks and issues, benefits realisation, and project impact and quality measures, to ensure successful project delivery Knowledge, skills & experience: In-depth knowledge and experience to undertake tasks of increasing complexity, including the ability to consider a problem, derive a range of potential solutions from existing possibilities and decide on the best course of action to reach a cost effective outcome High-level analytical skills and the ability to process factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations In-depth understanding of concepts and principles in Project Management and a basic knowledge of these elements in other relevant disciplines Demonstrated sound judgement and business acumen, with a focus on results Effective communications skills, presenting information clearly and in an appropriate style to the audience Ability to 'get to the heart of' the client's problem and identify additional work opportunities Qualifications: Degree level qualification or equivalent with demonstrated post-qualification on the job experience and a tangible track record of achievement in project management (Under certain circumstances another appropriate qualification with a significant depth of experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree). Applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance.
