The Position We are seeking highly motivated Legal Assistant to join our General Liability team! This is a great opportunity for a student currently studying a Bachelor of Laws to gain practical legal experience and pursue a graduate pathway within an award-winning Australian law firm. This is a part time position, working 3 to 4 days per week with flexibility to support your studies.
The role of a Legal Assistant at Carter Newell Lawyers is to provide high level administrative services to the team, to meet client requirements and to deliver exceptional client service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing own and work author's emails as required, including ensuring timely filing of emails, filtering incoming correspondence, proactively dealing with queries and meeting invites.Coordinating and producing compliant documents, matter lifecycles and correspondence including preparation of briefs for counselConflict searchesAssisting work authors with expense claims in a timely mannerAssisting with the production, signing and mailing of monthly bills for work authorsDiary management, travel booking and handling of telephone calls; andAssociated administrative dutiesEssential Experience and Criteria Studying a Bachelor of Laws or equivalentExperience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services environmentIntermediate skills in Microsoft Office products with good typing and word processing skillsProactive, positive and responsive 'can do' approach, with the ability to learn things quicklyHighly developed interpersonal and effective time management skillsAbility to work in a team environment and be flexible to meet team requirementsAt Carter Newell we are a professional team and have a strong client focus, but we love to have some fun along the way.
