The Boarding Hostel Manager is a critical position for a motivated and experienced individual responsible for the day-to-day operation of a student hostel, providing a safe and culturally appropriate environment for female students in years 7 to 12 attending the nearby school. The Manager will lead a team to support the physical, emotional and spiritual development of the girls under their care. The Manager will be responsible overseeing the planning and supervision of students including a culturally appropriate after-school recreation program, as well as providing guidance and support to staff.
Operate the Hostel as a 24/7 service Conduct and oversee community consultation to develop a service model that will reflect the voice and needs of the community Provide secure accommodation for school aged girls and women and accompanying children from all families/Clans as per service delivery model Work with Indigenous staff in developing training and/or safety plans for trainees and children returning including, where appropriate, to link with members of the community and organisations that can provide after support to women and children To be a supportive member of One Tree team based in Wadeye Work cooperatively and with clear professional boundaries Selection criteria
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to ensure information is conveyed clearly and accurately and enable the preparation of accurate, concise documents and reports Computer skills, use of Excel and Word Effective administration, time management and organisation skills Experience in customer service requiring efficient service delivery Evidence of problem-solving skills Experience managing a Boarding Facility or similar Experience working in remote Indigenous communities is desirable High cultural intelligence Experience managing, supporting and mentoring a team Requirements and Qualifications
Eligible to work in Australia A clear NT Working with Children Check Satisfactory National Police Clearance Vocational or tertiary qualifications in community services, training and/or Aboriginality Northern Land Council permit First Aid & CPR certificates A valid manual driver's licence How to apply
