Meeka Metals Limited (MEK) is building Western Australia's newest gold mine, and key to our success is securing an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our Processing team at our new flagship site – Murchison Gold Project, 50kms north of Meekatharra.
The project is a combined open pit and underground mining operation with an initial 9-year mine life. Site activities are ramping up now with construction underway, mining operations commencing early in 2025 and processing commencing shortly thereafter.
About the Role The Maintenance Superintendent reporting into the Manager – Processing will be responsible for coordinating and managing all maintenance activities and the team to ensure the continuous availability and reliability of the Processing Plant, and other key fixed plant infrastructure.
The role is offered on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Perth.
Key Responsibilities: In accordance with requirements of the Site Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, appointment as a Statutory Supervisor, Schedule 26 – Clause 3, and responsible for discharging the duties and functions required under the WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 and associated SOPs. Effectively lead the maintenance team ensuring continuous improvement strategies are implemented and executed to ensure production targets are met as well as optimizing plant efficiency. Continuous reviews of shutdown performance identifying value loss and root cause to support improvement in QA/QC overruns and reliability. Take an active role in short- and long-term planning of maintenance activities including shutdowns. Lead by example in demonstrating a hands-on approach to resolving maintenance issues allocating priority to emergent work orders, in line with core business needs. Establishment of systems and processes with Pronto to allow for management of all maintenance activities. Support the operational strategy by achieving and/or exceeding budget production rates, machine availability, and reliability. Evaluate opportunities to reduce departmental budget by reviewing labour requirements. Ensure statutory compliance and safe systems of work are in place for all assets, people, and activities under Maintenance Superintendent control. Ensure compliance with MEK safety policies, The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 as well as other appropriate legislation. Be the Classified Plant Appointee for the site. About You Engineering Trade Qualification (Preferably Mechanical). Completion of DEMIRS approved units of competency, BSBWHS411, BSBWHS414. Obtainment of the DEMIRS Statutory Supervisors ticket. Frontline Management Qualifications or equivalent experience. Ideally, +5 years' experience in a similar position within mining environment. Experience in management and execution of plant shutdowns and or outages. Ability to develop preventative maintenance programs with solid understanding of maintenance management systems. Ability to prepare budgets, forecasts and analyze cost variances. Knowledge and understanding of Mine Act and Regulations. Solid understanding of engineering Standards and Codes. Demonstrated experience in managing teams to meet set targets and objectives. Strong ability to liaise with external and internal stakeholders effectively. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and PRONTO. Valid C Western Australian Drivers Licence. Senior First Aid Certificate. Valid National Police Clearance.
