Job Description The Senior Engineer – Mine Planning is the key role for the integration and evaluation of underground mining into short term operational execution planning. This role will be responsible for the review, evaluation and optimisation of all long-term underground mining projects. This involves responsibility for inputs to the site budgeting process by collating mining schedules, coordinating cost models, and liaising with key stakeholders.
Planning responsibility will include all facets of mine engineering for the underground operations. This primarily includes, but is not limited to, all resolutions of mine planning, production engineering, development design, historical void management, operational budgeting, service planning and ventilation. This position will lead with a strong and decisive style and be a key interface between the Operations and Technical teams for the underground mine.
Key responsibilities: Manage the creation and development of underground mine designs for project development and analysis. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical input and site knowledge into trade-off studies, conceptual infrastructure designs, and optimisation works. Maintain cost models for underground operations, collate cost models from other active operations and manage the integration into the budget outputs. Manage the collation of mining schedules from different operations to ensure the optimisation of mill feed, materials balance, and equipment efficiency. Prepare mine designs and relevant documentation for Reserve and Resource reporting, and hold qualification for reserve declarations. Provide inputs into the materials balance for site to ensure that appropriate material is available for tails dams construction. Ensure that the most up to date development and production designs are integrated into short term schedules. Liaise with the mine planning engineers to ensure that all resolutions of mine plans incorporate the latest mine designs and planning assumptions for remnant areas. Review planned versus actual performance on mining areas to ensure future mining is economic and efficient. Oversee mine ventilation so that ventilation surveys are conducted in accordance with required regulations. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent. Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred. Minimum of 8 years post graduate experience in underground mining.
