About the role The Assurance Specialist Lead will proactively enhance the value of SA Water's Corporate Assurance function. This role provides independent and objective assurance, advice, and insights to the Board (via the Governance, Finance and Risk Committee), Chief Executive, and Senior Management regarding the effectiveness of risk management, governance, and internal control processes.

About Business Insights and Excellence The Business Insights and Excellence group drives operational excellence by enabling best business practices, economic pricing, supply chain management, and performance optimisation to support the broader business and partners in delivering reliable, cost-effective, sustainable, and future-focused outcomes.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. Maintain the integrity of the Corporate Compliance Framework by adhering to all legal and organisational obligations, including legislation and internal policies. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of SA Water's Assurance Framework, embedding it into daily operations and providing recommendations for enhancements. Contribute to the development of reports for the Governance, Finance, and Risk Committee and lead 2nd line assurance reporting for Executive oversight. Develop and implement efficient and contemporary assurance processes, systems, and practices across SA Water. Build strong relationships across the business and participate collaboratively to leverage expertise for better decision-making. Your success in this role will come from: Tertiary qualifications in law, accounting, internal audit, public policy/administration, or a related discipline. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for influencing stakeholders. Strategic and conceptual thinking with sound decision-making abilities. Relevant experience in an assurance role or related field. Knowledge of governance disciplines in large organisations, especially within the public sector (Desirable) Understanding of the political and legislative context affecting public organisations (Desirable) Ability to navigate complex political and legislative environments with minimal direction.
