ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OFFICE OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE: GOVERNANCE, STRATEGY SUPPORT AND ADMINISTRATION Annual Salary $150,000 - $160,000 + Superannuation Lead governance and board operations as Associate Director at Melbourne Polytechnic. About the Role: We're seeking an Associate Director of Office of the Chief Executive: Governance, Strategy Support and Administration to lead Melbourne Polytechnic's Governance Unit and to support the implementation of strategy and the smooth operations within the Office of the Chief Executive.
We're seeking a highly organised individual with strengths in writing, editing and coaching others to write high-quality board papers who shares our passion to create an inclusive, sustainable and thriving community inspired by learning.
The role is critical to the smooth functioning of board and committee operations and supports the Chief Executive, Board Secretary and leadership team.

Duties: As Associate Director, you will lead the Governance Unit, ensuring high-quality board materials, support strategic initiatives, and foster strong stakeholder relationships. Your role is pivotal in driving effective governance and promoting a collaborative organisational culture.

Skills and Experience Required: A relevant tertiary qualification, or significant relevant experience. Extensive experience and understanding of corporate governance and best practice approaches to effectively support a Board, preferably in an education or services environment. Exceptional skills in writing, proofreading and reviewing board papers to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency, along with proven experience in coaching others to improve the quality of their written work by providing constructive feedback and guidance on structure, content and presentation. Experience providing support and advice to senior leadership including the Chief Executive, Executive teams and other senior staff in a services or educational environment, ensuring efficient processes and workflows to support the institute's leadership. Excellent consultative and communication styles including written, verbal communication and presentation skills, together with a high degree of integrity and empathy, and outstanding negotiation and influencing skills. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, guide, and manage a diverse team to achieve goals, foster a positive and collaborative work environment and effectively address challenges while promoting high performance. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative in problem-solving and decision-making, while also showing strong teamwork and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope in dynamic, high-pressure environments. Proficient in Microsoft 365, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software and effectively support others in its use. Knowledge of the Australian tertiary education landscape, including the key challenges, trends, and regulatory frameworks that impact TAFE and other higher education institutions.
