The Opportunity Partnering with and deputising the CFO, you will manage a broad spectrum of financial operations and compliance functions.
From ensuring the delivery of annual audited financial statements to managing taxation, treasury, and asset accounting, your work will play a key role in advancing the financial health and ensuring a sustainable future.
You will drive operational excellence across areas like accounts payable and receivable, travel, and insurance, while maintaining critical financial policies and systems.
In a rapidly evolving sector, you'll champion continuous improvement, integrate new technologies, and use data analytics to streamline processes and enhance decision-making.
Leading a dedicated team of finance officers, you'll foster strong business partnerships across the university, ensuring service-delivery excellence and operational support.
We value a balance between work flexibility and engaging with teams onsite, this role will be primarily office-based at our Sippy Downs campus in a 4:1 hybrid working model. You will lead and shape diverse financial operations and compliance functions, ensuring they align seamlessly with UniSC's strategic goals; oversee key financial processes, including audited financial statements, taxation, treasury, asset accounting, and essential operational areas like accounts receivable, payable, travel, and insurance; optimise and manage finance systems, while maintaining strong financial policies and procedures that support the university's financial health; drive continuous improvement, embracing emerging trends, innovative practices, and new technologies to enhance financial operations. About you You're a strategic leader with a passion for driving financial excellence.
You will possess experience leading a financial operations team to deliver contemporary service-delivery and a safe place to innovate and challenge the status quo, ensuring our operations align with UniSC's goals.
You bring expertise in managing financial, taxation, and treasury functions, and you'll thrive in overseeing complex areas like financial statements, statutory reporting, and auditor engagement.
You're a proactive problem solver, always looking for opportunities to improve, streamline, and innovate, using data and technology to inform decisions.
With a focus on team development, you'll be passionate about inspiring and guiding high-performing teams to nurture internal relationships and deliver exceptional service.

You will possess: Extensive senior leadership experience in financial operations and systems support within complex organisations, navigating robust governance structures and administrative processes. Expertise in interpreting and applying legislative requirements and accounting standards, with experience preparing statutory reports and collaborating with external auditors. Proven ability to develop financial policies and procedures, resolving complex issues within challenging environments. Skilled in leveraging contemporary technology and data analytics to streamline processes and enhance decision making. Strong people management skills, adept at establishing workflows, and fostering individual and team growth through performance development. Innovative thinker with a track record of leading continuous improvement and problem solving initiatives. Experienced in designing and implementing new policies, processes, and business systems that boost efficiency and align with organisational objectives. Highly proficient in financial software and technologies that drive insightful financial solutions. Exceptional communicator, able to craft clear, concise documentation and engage effectively with stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
