Assistant Manager - VPSG5 | Ongoing - Full Time About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. It provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria, and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight, and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division and Branch The Schools Human Resources Division implements strategic workforce initiatives, provides human resource services, and strategic human resource policy advice in areas of school employee relations, payroll, recruitment, and provision of HR data to assist in the building of a high-quality and diverse workforce. Recruitment, payroll, and reporting support is also provided to external clients.
The Policy Workplace Relations and Initiatives Branch is responsible for providing industrial and employee relations support to Victorian government schools as well as implementing a range of initiatives to increase teacher supply across the State.
About the Role Operating in a fast-paced, customer-focused workforce initiatives team, the Assistant Manager (Senior HR Advisor) will work closely with the Business Partners/Project Officers to lead and deliver workforce initiatives and workforce support services to build teacher supply to Victorian government schools.

Your role will be to optimise the team's skills to support strategic decision-making and enhance people management for workforce planning.
Key to your success will be creating a positive environment, leading by example to drive a culture of excellence in customer service through the delivery of expert, efficient, and contemporary HR advice as well as tailored workforce support solutions.
Attributes Manage and lead a team of Project Officers/Business Partners, including workload allocation and supervision of staff as required and contribute to the improvement of staff effectiveness.Provide employees with the leadership, information, and guidance required to achieve outcomes and to ensure that these meet project and policy objectives.Lead and drive the delivery of workforce initiatives and workforce support services, complex HR systems, processes, and communication.Regular consultation with the Manager and contribution to high-quality reports, briefs, and business plans to deliver on evolving organisational priorities and key workforce initiatives and workforce support services.Identify and address actual and potential barriers and devise effective solutions.Develop key business resources and communication action plans to foster a partnership model with schools.Support project management and procurement processes as required.Desirable Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications are desired, as is experience in project management or as a human resources business partner.
