Assistant Finance Analyst - Group Expenses

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Financial Analyst/Accountant to join Finance and Advice teams. The role supports the delivery of finance month end processes as well as reporting, forecasting and budgeting activities across Group Expense Management teams.
The role is ideal for recent graduates or candidates with a foundational understanding of financial principles and accounting practices. The successful candidate will support the financial operations, contribute to the analysis of financial data, and assist in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting.
What you'll do Deliver end of month finance processes in a timely and accurate manner.Proactively support with investigation and timely resolutions of data variances and reconciliations.Prepare and process accounting journals.Support delivery of key management reporting activities including monthly Management and Board reporting, Full Year and Half Year external reporting to the market.Support with maintenance and update of financial systems and databases.Provide analytical support with the forecasting and budgeting processes.Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to deliver performance management insights.Build relationships with key stakeholders to develop an in-depth understanding of business drivers and trends that support management reporting.What you'll bring Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Finance, or similar (Mandatory)Post-graduate qualifications, or working towards (CA, CPA, CFA, or similar) (Desired)Up to 2 years of experience in accounting and finance discipline rolesExperience within a financial services organisation, or strong interest in the industryAbility to deal with confidential and sensitive informationStrong analytical capability (incl. data analysis) with experience in accounting, business analysis, management reporting and/or decision support.Inquisitive mindset and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver tasks within tight timeframes and with a high degree of accuracy.Technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader MS products suite and finance system and reporting tools e.g. Oracle, TM1/Cognos, Power BIGood business knowledge of the Suncorp Group (i.e. understanding of our business, the products we sell and the markets we play in).Knowledge of the General Insurance P&L / IFRS17.What we can offer you Suncorp's employee benefits are designed to support, empower and reward our people.
