The Role
Are you a finance professional who is passionate about driving innovation and making a tangible impact? We are seeking a compassionate, dynamic and forward-thinking member to join our Innovation and Business Process Improvement (IBPI) team at Defence Finance Group (DFG). In this role, you will empower teams to rethink and enhance financial processes, leveraging emerging technologies and best practices. You will be responsible, under broad direction, to: Create and nurture a positive culture of innovation, encouraging creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to find novel solutions to existing challenges. Establish and sustain a range of relationships at senior levels. Influence and encourage cross-functional collaboration. Leverage strategic partnerships across Defence to enhance DFG operations and emerging business capabilities. Identify opportunities for optimising business processes under a risk management approach, eliminating redundancies, and improving overall efficiency and productivity. Implement the DFG Innovation Program, including the framework, roadmap and governance structure to cement systematic generation of business improvements. Perform program and project management, including but not limited to, complex planning and proposals, risk management, monitoring dependencies, key deliverables and milestones, and ongoing assessment, evaluation and reporting. Prepare program briefs, analysis and reporting to SES level Defence stakeholders and Committees. Manage stakeholder relationships and program communications. You will act as a change agent for the development and implementation of new innovations, major business process improvement initiatives and implement a cultural shift towards continuous improvement to help DFG evolve its services, procedures, capabilities and products.

The Innovation and Business Process Improvement (IBPI) Directorate plays a vital role within the Financial Change and Integration Branch (FCI), as it takes the lead in driving transformative change through fostering behavioural shifts towards continuous improvement, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving business innovation within the Defence Finance Group (DFG). We are a collaborative group that empowers others to rethink and reshape traditional financial process by providing the tools, guidance and support needed for teams to drive their own improvement. A finance professional with experience in finance transformation, change management, business process optimization or improvement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence sand facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment where new ideas and priorities are constantly emerging. Actively engaged on latest developments in technology and connected with digital/ innovation/ finance networks to bring fresh ideas into DFG High levels of integrity and a commitment to act in accordance with APS and Defence values and behaviours.
