The Role
The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is a historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.
Key Duties

Lead a highly specialised, multi-disciplined project team and coordinate very complex project activities across multiple technical disciplines for the design and delivery of the Submarine Construction Yard (SCY), in consultation with Australian Naval Infrastructure.
Accountable for management of complex operational, infrastructure and equipment functional requirements, including managing the engagement of various influential stakeholders to ensure the design considers nuclear safety, security and safeguards principles.
Build and sustain positive stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and influence with AUKUS partners, whole of government departments, industry participants and all Divisions within ASA to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure scope.
Responsible for the management of schedule, risk, budget and resources, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with organisational requirements.

About our Team
Sovereign Submarine Program Delivery Branch (SSPD) is accountable for identifying, in consultation with Australia's AUKUS partners, the most appropriate program delivery model and construction methodology, defining the infrastructure requirements, analysing and modelling the existing Australian industry and workforce capability and capacity, and undertaking the cost estimation of acquiring and sustaining the future Nuclear Power Submarine fleet.
SSPD consists of the following directorates: Business and Operations, Build Test and Evaluation, Commercial Management, Engineering, and Ship Yard Infrastructure. The SSPD Infrastructure Directorate leads the delivery of major civil infrastructure to support Australia's delivery of the SSN-AUKUS nuclear powered submarine program. This includes the new Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) in Osborne, South Australia.
Comprising a team of APS and supported by specialist consultants, the team works collaboratively to deliver project governance & assurance, design development, nuclear regulation and environmental assessment as they relate to infrastructure delivery. With the complexity and scale of the project, the team works closely with a range of key stakeholders including all levels of government, industry, and trilateral AUKUS partners to deliver best-for-project outcomes.
