Remaining true to our Territory roots, our headquarters lies in Darwin, complimented by a newly acquired Perth base employing over 225 staff across administration and operations.  Following a recent internal promotion, Airnorth are searching for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Darwin. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Financial Accounting Manager in all aspects of the accounting function.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily bank reconciliations for all accounts.Reconciliation of employee leave provisions.Maintain an accurate and timely Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functionsPreparation of all end of month payroll accruals and journalsCompilation of month end working papers and supporting documents including maintaining monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts and processing general journals as requiredReview and process intercompany transactions.Preparation of monthly departmental reports.Compilation of passenger numbers to report to airports.Preparation and completion of monthly BAS statementsPreparation and completion of returns for payroll oncosts including payroll tax, workers compensation and FBTESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in an accounting role within a medium to large businessStrong reconciliation to trial balance skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and problem solve, as well as time management skills with ability to achieve deadlines.Payroll experience in a medium-large organisation and a computerised environment, including the understanding of various Awards and EBAs relevant to payroll, with an ability to interpret and apply provisions appropriatelySkills in calculation, reporting and reconciliation of payroll on-costs including Superannuation and Payroll tax;Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate (or higher) knowledge of Excel / Outlook functionalityDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Aviation Industry experienceExposure to Greentree Accounting softwareAccounting Certificate/Qualification LIFE AT AIRNORTH: At Airnorth, we are a family, we care for our employees and offer a flexible workplace that provides an achievable work-life balance. Our core values are Safety, Integrity, Passion, Teamwork, and Progress.
