Operations Manager – Position DescriptionOperations ManagerEmployment Basis: Full-TimeRole Overview:The Operations Manager is essential in enhancing the operational effectiveness of the teams, processes and efficiency of the arboriculture firm, focusing on the practical aspects of arboriculture operations.
This role involves managing people and their development as well as the daily operations with an emphasis on optimising workflows, improving equipment management, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
A significant part of the role includes collaborating with the sales and consulting teams to ensure that operational strategies support business development and client satisfaction.Responsibilities:Operational Efficiency and Process Optimisation:Develop and refine operational processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.Innovate and implement solutions to improve workflow, resource allocation, and service delivery.Equipment and Machinery Management:Manage the lifecycle of machinery and equipment, including procurement, maintenance, and strategic usage.Schedule regular maintenance and inspections to maximise operational reliability and safety.Team Management:Be the point of contact for all operational teams (approx 9 staff) on a day to day basis.Ensure operational teams have everything they require, have direction and clarity of tasks on a day to day basis.Contribute to finding, hiring and onboarding new employees to ensure their understanding of business processes.Ensure individuals and teams know their position, their role and responsibilities on a day to day basis.Direct and support the tree care teams on a day to day basis, providing clear direction and fostering a culture of high performance and safety.Execute on the job training to enhance the team's practical skills, job site efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.Foster a culture of continuous learning.Conduct regular Goal Setting and Career Development meetings.Safety and Compliance:Ensure operations comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations.Regularly conduct safety audits of the teams.Ensure crew leaders are aligned with the company standards for safety briefings, SWMS and JSA's.Cross-functional Collaboration:Collaborate with sales and consulting staff to develop crew schedules and ensure readiness and capacity for demand.Work closely with the sales team to align operational capacities with market demands and client needs.Partner with consulting staff to integrate client-specific requirements and feedback into operational planning and execution.Strategic Contributions:Participate in strategic planning sessions with management to ensure operational plans support company objectives.Contribute operational insights to enhance decision-making and business growth.Quality Control:Uphold company standards and ensure operational outputs meet or exceed quality expectations.Implement and monitor quality control measures to continually improve operational outputs.Reporting and Performance Metrics:Maintain record systems to report on operational performance.Analyze operational data to identify trends, forecast needs, and drive improvements.Requirements:Experience: Minimum 6 years in the arboriculture or related industry leading teams, preference for experience in a management level position.Qualifications: MR license, arboriculture qualifications and standard.Remuneration and Benefits:Salary: $82,992 - 90,896 per annum (more for exceptional candidates).Superannuation: Contributions in line with statutory requirements (currently 11%).Leave Entitlements: Standard leave entitlements for full-time employees.Professional Development: 3.5% of salary allocated towards training and certifications.Health and Wellbeing: 1% of salary dedicated to initiatives such as gym memberships or wellness programs.Equipment: Company-provided laptop, iPad and mobile phone for business use.
