Details of the offer

Salary Range: $97,735 - $110,982 + Attractive Superannuation
Contact Officer: Jacqui Skerman 0437 750 015 ******

The Veterans' Review Board (VRB) is a specialist tribunal that delivers justice for veterans, current serving members and their families seeking to challenge decisions that affect their interests and, more broadly, we contribute to improving the quality of government decision-making.
For over 100 years, veterans have had a right to an external appeal to seek review of decisions relating to entitlements and assessment of war pensions. The VRB has existed in its current form since 1985.
We are less formal than a court. Where possible, we help veterans or their family members resolve their applications by talking through the issues at an 'outreach' with a Conference Registrar or at a conference with a Commission representative. If an application cannot be resolved, our members will decide the case at a hearing.
We can only hear cases where the law gives us this authority and the law that establishes the VRB and governs our operation is the Veterans Entitlement Act 1986 (the VEA).
The types of decisions that we most commonly review relate to:

Claims to accept liability or entitlement for a service injury, disease or death
Applications for increase in disability pension
Compensation for permanent impairment or incapacity for work
Claims for war widow(er)'s or orphan's pension

Staff at the VRB are organized into two groups: client services and tribunal services.
The Veterans' Review Board is seeking a skilled SE Deputy Registrar to manage a key operational team within the Sydney registry. The SE Deputy Registrar is an important part of the registry leadership structure and will work as part of a collaborative and supportive leadership group.
The SE Deputy Registrar will manage and support staff in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, provide high quality service to external users and internal stakeholders, including VRB members and conference registrars. The SE Deputy Registrar will utilise their expertise in VRB procedures and jurisdictions to manage complex matters and support staff in the Brisbane registry client service team.
Duties

Assist the Southeastern Registrar to manage the day-to-day operations of the Sydney Registry to deliver an efficient, high quality, user-focused registry service
Supervise staff to ensure registry standards are met and quality services are delivered to VRB users and VRB Members, including ensuring the quality of documentation for VRB members to conduct hearings and determine issues.
Implement procedures and train staff to ensure the delivery of local registry operations and quality services
Provide high level procedural guidance to VRB users and staff in the Sydney registry
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VRB's operational procedures and jurisdiction
Provide ICT support and assistance to VRB members including running electronic hearings using teams and troubleshooting of common issues, in collaboration with the VRB's Business Manager.
