About the Role: A highly-regarded Federal Government Agency is seeking an enthusiastic APS 5 Media Advisor to join their team.
This role involves daily media monitoring, media product development, and managing media inquiries.
Ideal for someone passionate about media and looking to enhance their skillset within a professional and supportive environment.
The Contract: This role is offered as a labour hire contract with an indicative end date of end June 2025.
Competitive hourly rate.
To manage distribution of the daily media summary, please note that the commencement time is 7:30am.
Canberra Civic location, with hybrid flexibility to work from home up to two days per week considered.
Standard 37.5 hour week, but part-time hours that incorporate the core hours of 7:30-2:30 will be considered.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare and distribute daily media summaries.
Maintain and update targeted lists of journalists and publications.
Manage media distribution, interview requests, and inquiries.
Collaborate with media monitoring suppliers to align services and update parameters.
Prepare media reports, manage emerging risks, and support capability issues management.
Maintain and update the talking point bank and media monitoring keyword briefs.
Monitor social media activity, collate reports, and identify emerging issues.
Draft media content including releases, responses, talking points, speeches, and social media posts.
Provide administrative support, including contract management and record-keeping.
Key Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in communications, media, public relations, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational abilities and effective team collaboration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word.
Up-to-date knowledge of media and social media channels.
Understanding of rural and regional audience needs is beneficial.
Australian citizenship and preferably a current baseline clearance or the ability to obtain one.
