Amazon's Retail business is looking for a Senior Category Manager to join our team as we continue our trajectory of growth and raising the bar in ecommerce for Australian customers. This role is multi-faceted in nature, working cross functionally with various teams including marketing, finance, supply chain, Amazon Ads, and our external supplier partners. You will be joining Amazon at a time where we are shaping the way that customers shop and buy online in Australia.
As a Senior Category Manager, you will be a passionate advocate for our customers and developing a category based on strong relationships with our supplier partners. Building long-term partnerships is fundamental to the growth of the business, and you will be successful in the role by building strategic relationships including with senior stakeholders at some of the largest suppliers in the market segment. There are still brands that are not yet present on Amazon.com.au: bringing them on the journey is important, building their trust and helping them understand the long-term incremental growth opportunities.
You will also hold a passion for Developing the Best. This role is an individual contributor but with dotted lines to the Brand Specialists that typically look after your most important suppliers. Nurturing and shaping their growth, as well as your peers, is not only important to the success of your category but also in helping shape the future talent at Amazon.
An Amazon Senior Category Manager also complements their investments in relationships and people with a sharp, analytical mind: being comfortable with a suite of metrics across multiple KPIs is a must, likewise is holding an affinity with complex analysis and making data-driven decisions. Adding structure to processes, creating rigorous mechanisms and understanding operational flows will be part and parcel of your role.
Key Responsibilities Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets Act as the 'new business developer' for an assigned set of categories or brands within, possessing a complete understanding (inclusive of the strategic context) of internal and external variables that impact your business. This includes owning forecasting, analyzing, understanding and reporting on the business, in particular prospecting, conversion and terms negotiations. Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and business trends/events, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments Maximize Amazon's business and financial profitability through selection expansion opportunities Have a complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to advocate for and drive delivery of site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience Build vendor/brand relationships - be the primary point of contact for vendor on-boarding and then ensure smooth transition to the category teams once on-boarded Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years of with Excel experience 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience Experience using data to influence business decisions Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration Experience with business analysis and P&L management Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams Amazon values diverse experiences: experience in similar roles is beneficial but not required; diverse backgrounds are valued, and candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply, even if not all preferred qualifications listed in the job description are met.
