About theRole: StudentSupport Services works with schools and preschools to providesupport to assist them in meeting the needs of allchildren. StudentSupport Services are on a cultural response journey, as such wevalue and prioritise Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing andbeing. TheSelf-Regulation Service, provides proactive, targeted and intensiveservices to support the teaching and learning for children andstudents with complex needs, including those with trauma and/orself-regulation difficulties. ThePsychologist (Self-Regulation) reports to the Manager,Self-Regulation Service and will work collaboratively within a teamof occupational therapists and educators to deliver specialisedexpertise in the application of self-regulation strategies inpreschools and schools. The Psychologist will access clinicalsupervision from the Senior Psychologist (or delegate) at the localstudent support services education office. Theposition will contribute to the development and implementation ofstrategies to enhance self-regulation across whole of sitecontexts, including contributing to the development andimplementation of training packages, explicit modelling ofstrategies, establishment of small group interventions and supportwith data collection and analysis. The position will also require abroad knowledge of behaviour management and wellbeing approaches asthey relate to children/students with complex needs, including therole of self-regulation and relating to others. ThePsychologist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and workswith children and young people with developmental, cognitive,social, emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties. ThePsychologist works with preschool and school staff to developevidence based - interventions that include proactive, targeted andintensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and homecontexts. Thisposition exists in a climate of innovation and change with anopportunity to contribute to service development andevaluation. Qualifications: Essential:Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Boardof Australia. Psychology Board of Australia approvedsupervisor. Desirable:Area of practice endorsement – educational and developmentalpsychology and/or clinical psychology and/or counsellingpsychology.Special Conditions: Thesuccessful applicant is required to gain a Department for HumanServices (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to beingemployed which is required to be renewed every five years beforeexpiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC(Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care)Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online(Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated everythree years.
