Flexible Work

At PM&C we recognise the broad benefits of offering flexibility in how, when and where work is performed. We consider flexibility first from a starting position of 'how can we make this work?' and consider individual circumstances and operational requirements in making genuine attempts to establish mutually beneficial arrangements. Please reach out to the contact officer if you would like to explore what flexibility might look like for you, such as part time work, variable start and finish times or working from home.

Who we are

The Industry, Infrastructure and Environment Division (II&E) offers fascinating work on issues that matter and prides itself on its culture. We work in small teams across a wide range of portfolios and policy, including: climate change, energy, infrastructure investment, transport, regions and cities, communications, the arts, industry, science, agriculture, the environment and water, and resources.

The content is diverse, the work is fast and meaningful, and the people are great. We work together to solve problems, strive to make a difference, lean into tough issues, focus on what matters most, and respect and support each other. We liaise closely across Commonwealth agencies and with others, working together to get things done.

What you will do

II&E works in the centre of government decision-making, providing advice to support Commonwealth Budget and Cabinet processes, legislation, and other Parliamentary processes.

APS 5 and APS 6 Advisers play a crucial role in developing the analysis and advice teams provide to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on important policy issues, while engaging deeply with key stakeholders to deliver results.

We are looking to fill vacancies at the APS5 and APS6 levels, available immediately and over the course of 2024. The roles are fast paced, varied and present exciting opportunities to help shape and implement the Government's agenda.

What you will bring

We work in a dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment, so we are looking for people who work effectively and independently under pressure and can balance a number of priorities.

Your key skills, experience and attributes for both levels will include:

In addition, APS 6 Advisers should be able to demonstrate the following:

If you are unsure about the appropriate level to apply for, please refer to the APSC work level standards or get in touch with the contact officer to discuss. Applicants can only be interviewed for the level they apply for, so if in doubt seek consideration at both the APS5 and APS6 level.

A merit pool may be established to fill vacancies for 18 months from date of advertising.
