Wheelchair Basketball Australia (WBA) was formed in January 2024 to provide opportunities for individuals with a disability to participate in the sport of wheelchair basketball. WBA in its first year re-introduced the Men's and Women's National Wheelchair Leagues with 7 men's teams and 4 women's teams. As WBA enters the 2nd year of competition, we are seeking the services of a part time administrative co-ordinator to support the WBA and the conduct of the national leagues. Purpose of the Role: The WBA National League Administration Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support to assist with the operation of the WBA National Wheelchair Basketball Leagues. This role focuses on managing league operations, liaising with clubs and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with league policies and regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. League Operations: Assist in the planning and coordination of league schedules, and venues. Maintain timely registration of players, including eligibility and clearances. Ensure teams meet WBA league rules for competition entry. Manage competition paperwork and ensure accuracy of online game information. Prepare and distribute all league-related documentation including team lists for each game. Manage the competition work in progress process to ensure that timelines are achieved. 2. Stakeholder Communication: Regular communication with each of the competing teams, officials and partner organisations. Serve as the point of contact for competition related inquiries and issues (both during the week and on weekends when competitions are running) maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders. Facilitate regular communication with team managers, coaches, and referees to ensure smooth league operations. Assist with social media platforms in sharing relevant communication with the community. 3. Compliance & Governance: Ensure that all participating teams comply with league rules and regulations. Coordinate the collection and verification of all required documentation and keep master databases up to date. Support the implementation of league policies regarding safeguarding, anti-doping, and athlete welfare. 4. Event Coordination: Assist with the logistical planning and execution of finals for the league and any other functions or events that WBA conducts during the season. Assist in the co-ordination of venue bookings, equipment logistics, and volunteer management where necessary. Ensure digital platforms are kept up to date and troubleshoot issues where necessary. Organise awards and trophies for the finals 5. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of WBA Competition Committee meetings and share with members. Provide administrative support to league committees and working groups. Qualifications and Experience: Essential: Experience in sports administration, event management, or league coordination. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Passionate about providing opportunities for all abilities to have pathways that allow all athletes to achieve their dreams. Desirable: Knowledge of wheelchair basketball or experience working with disability sports. Experience working with athletes, teams, and sporting organizations. Experience in managing stakeholder relationships. Personal Attributes: Passion for sports, particularly inclusive and adaptive sports. Working Conditions: Flexibility to work weekends and evenings during league events or critical times. This is a two day per week position with flexibility on location.
