Our client is the largest primary health care provider, delivering direct healthcare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Pilbara area.
They have supported local families with a fully functional and accredited clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Exciting, Senior Level Project Focused Position to Tackle Indigenous Smoking:

Alcohol and Nutrition Family and Domestic Violence Accommodation and Women Outreach Support Social and Emotional Wellbeing Culture Care Connect This is a newly created position which is both interesting and important.
The position of the Project/Program Specialist focused on Tackling Indigenous Smoking is to undertake activities aimed at reducing smoking levels and supporting smokers to quit within their service area and community.

This is a really exciting opportunity to create a "quit smoking" program from scratch with your team and deliver this across the whole of the Pilbara to Indigenous people.

Activities will include:
Collating an extensive amount of data from various sources relating to indigenous smoking and identifying patterns of behaviour to create a "Quit Smoking" Program that meets the needs of the community.
Building relationships & networking with other Aboriginal Medical Service providers across the Pilbara to gain access and share data and information on indigenous smoking.
Developing a comprehensive understanding of the profile of smoking within the community, the impacts of smoking, influencing factors on behaviour, and prevention and quitting issues.
Collecting statistical data and evidence to better understand motivations for smoking and quitting with community members.
Using the evidence collected to plan and implement community programs that educate and support smoking reduction and quitting.
Referring clients to formal cessation programs and delivering smoking cessation and support programs.
Working collaboratively with your team members to make a positive difference to the smoking profile of the community.
Working in partnership with other organisations to assist and promote smoking reduction and quit smoking.
Conducting brief interventions and positive care through community and support groups.
Implementing education activities, including social and media campaigns.
Building relationships with children and adolescents as well as adults to engage them in the program.
The Benefits:
