About the roleWe are seeking a values-driven and proactive Casual Youth Worker!
You will support young people with problematic alcohol and dependent substance use through their journey of recovery.
Additionally, you will deliver a safe, secure and clean environment for clients in a 24 hour residential setting.
This is a casual position based in Townsville, QLD.
Salary and conditions is accordance with the Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 3.You will successfullyDevelop effective and supportive relationships with clients, ensuring that each client is treated with respect, dignity and confidentialityComplete comprehensive assessments of a young person's life and living skills to develop an individual Life and Living Skills plan in collaboration with clientsIncorporate a range of interventions, including (but not limited to) health, nutrition & fitness, personal hygiene & physical well-being, budgeting & finances, cleaning and maintaining living spaces, positive parenting, and positive respectful relationshipsEnsure the voice of young people is reflected in program development and delivery by conducting exit interviews with previous Youth Services clients and co facilitation of program meetingsAssist clients to carry out their support plan, and monitor and review the plan in line with the service policy and procedureMaintain records of the activities (eg Daybook, incident reports, phone messages) providing reports at changeover and to Manager as requiredYou will haveCertificate 4 or higher qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Work or equivalentExperience working with young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religionsExperience and understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use, mental ill health and other disabilities (desirable)Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use, mental ill health and other disabilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skills; participate in the collection of data and report writingCompetency in Microsoft OfficeProven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and carry out duties in a timely mannerAbility to use active listening skills, make an assessment on a crisis situation and use crisis intervention principles including conflict resolution within the communityA current and valid Driver's LicenceA current and valid Working with Children's Check (Blue Card)A current first aid or ability to obtain oneWhat we offer As a registered NFP we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as; NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650) Flexible working conditions Health, fitness and financial discounts / benefits Purpose driven career which has positive social and sustainable outcomes Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service; Opportunity for career development; An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team members Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution?
