We are currently seeking applications for a dedicated Youth Worker to join our Intensive Support - Children, Youth & Family Support team located in the Underwood-Brisbane region in a permanent part-time fixed-term capacity.
The position is part-time Monday-Thursday from 9am-5pm initially for a six (6) month period with the potential to extend.
Travel will be required in the surrounding region to support our clients.
The Youth Worker will directly support the day-to-day living of young people, providing quality, safe care and guidance within their living environment and the community.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the young people are safe and that their welfare and well-being needs are met while working towards planned goals and independence.
This role will involve working with young people with a range of behavioural and psychological needs.
You will provide person-centred support through supervised contact to build their life skills and support positive decision-making to achieve life and plan goals and/or to assist with taking to appointments.
You will also support them by actively engaging family, kin, and key relationships and facilitating access to available community supports as required to achieve planned support goals.
About you: Passion for helping young people and driving positive outcomes. Knowledge and experience working with young people with cognitive, social, developmental, and behavioural needs. Experience in the engagement, assessment, and intervention with young people and relevant stakeholders. Demonstrated commitment to achieving positive outcomes for young people using a valuing and strengths-based approach. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including debriefing, conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation. Being creative and resourceful in assisting clients with achieving their goals. The Youth Worker will: Have completed or be currently completing a relevant Certificate, Diploma, or Tertiary qualification – whilst not a requirement of the role, this will be considered favourably; or Have nil or a less formal qualification with substantial years of relevant experience and specialized knowledge and skills sufficient to perform the role. Have a high level of drive, life experience, or personal commitment to the role and seek to undertake further learning and development to enhance your skills and competency. Demonstrate ability to work within legislation, regulations, quality, and statutory standards. Be able to work collaboratively within a team, under management authority.
