Youth Health Nurse In this position you will contribute to the review, development and critical evaluation of Maari Ma's Youth Health Program, which targets Aboriginal children and young people aged 9 to 18 years.
The position is responsible for providing person-centred support, education, referral and advocacy to young people, regarding their physical, sexual, mental and psychosocial health.
The role works closely with the Aboriginal Health Practitioner Youth Health, the broader Child and Family Health team, Healthy Start General Practitioners and key stakeholders to promote health and wellbeing in the Aboriginal community.
Salary up to $117,600 gross per annum plus superannuation.
(Depending on qualifications and years of experience) Incentives for this position · Retention bonus of $5,000 following 12 and 24 months service · Temporary accommodation for up to 8 weeks · Relocation assistance to help you get to Broken Hill · Home base travel allowance to keep in touch with your family - $600 allowance on completion of each 6 months of service for 2 years.
To Be Successful: · Currently registered with, or eligible to be registered with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
· Authorised Nurse Immuniser in New South Wales or be prepared to achieve this qualification within six months of commencing employment.
· Ability to work with Aboriginal staff and communities in a way that fosters mutual respect.
· Demonstrated experience in adolescent health, health promotion, sexual health, community health or mental health.
· Demonstrated understanding of health promotion principles and experience in the delivery of health promotion and education to young people.
· High level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to respond effectively to clients who may be challenging to engage.
· Demonstrated understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal children and young people and potential barriers to preventive health care.
· Computing skills relevant to the position and competent in the use of information and communication technology including Microsoft Word, email and internet applications and the ability to quickly acquire skills in other applications.
· Current unrestricted drivers licence and a safe driving record.
