Act as the first point of contact for young people to access the headspace servicePart time (0.4 FTE), fixed term until 30 June 2025Located on the Camperdown Campus at the Brain and Mind Centre (headspace)Base Salary $86,511 + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe headspace Team at the Brain and Mind Centre (Camperdown) is looking for a Youth Access Clinician to join their dynamic and supportive youth access team.In this role, you will effectively engage, screen, assess, and coordinate the care of young people aged between 12 - 25 years.
You will be working with people who have diverse mental health, general health, vocational, or drug/alcohol service needs and are referred from the community to headspace for support.Your key responsibilities will be to:Assist in engaging with young people at headspace, gathering relevant client information, and conduct biopsychosocial assessments.Carry out assertive monitoring of clients with guidance from senior clinical and other staff.Assist in the referral of young people to appropriate services either within headspace or other community agencies.Provide information to clients and carers regarding the nature of mental health and substance use problems, other health information, and services available.Participate in headspace community awareness activities promoting the health and well-being of young people and liaise with relevant community groups, government, and non-government service providers.Liaise closely with onsite independent practitioners, local referral agencies, and other services.Participate in relevant clinical meetings and quality improvement projects and research.Maintain accurate databases and adhere to the headspace Clinical Governance Framework, and headspace policies and procedures.About youIf you are passionate about the mental health space and enjoy helping young people navigate challenging situations, this could be the role for you!Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and building constructive working relationships with young people, family/carers, and other agencies.Experience in the provision of clinical mental health services for young people, including engaging and providing care with young people ages 12-25 years, who have mental health, alcohol, and other drug problems.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem-solving, advocacy, and negotiation skills including the ability to consult, liaise, and negotiate with young people, family/carers, workers, and other agencies.A demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and screening of young people and their carers.An understanding of determining care needs and assisting young people to access necessary services.Current knowledge of the health needs of young people and the local youth, mental health, and alcohol and other drug agencies and networks.Ability to make clinical decisions, triage, and work within systems.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
