For over 30 years, Bellarine Secondary College (formerly Queenscliff High School) has served the community of the Bellarine Peninsula. The past record of our students in academic, cultural, and sporting fields is noted with pride.
Bellarine Secondary College is the only State Secondary College on the Bellarine Peninsula, situated on two campuses: Years 7 and 8 at Ocean Grove Campus and Years 9-12 at the Drysdale Campus, with a total enrolment of 1350 students. The College draws enrolments from all towns on the Bellarine Peninsula.
The College offers a rich and broad curriculum including VCE, VET, and VCAL, providing students with necessary preparation for the transition from school to broader society. The College has established connections with tertiary providers and continues to develop partnerships with other Registered Training Organisations.
Student wellbeing is a high priority, with a Student Engagement Policy incorporating Restorative Behaviour practices. Bellarine Secondary College is a partner school in the Respectful Relationships Program.
Student leadership and voice are highly valued within the College community, with structured programs available from Years 7 to 12.
Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
SC6 Demonstrated capacity to align teaching practice with the College's preferred instructional model.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Range 2 classroom teachers will be expected to:
- Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers.
- Provide expert advice about the content, processes, and strategies for professional learning.
- Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
- Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area;Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).
