Our Power & Energy team helps clients maintain secure and reliable power supplies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and deliver future energy schemes to help our cities transition to a more sustainable world. Our team has expertise in solar, wind, hydropower, thermal energy, waste-to-energy and bioenergy, battery storage, network distribution and systems and automation.
The Opportunity:
Lead a team of Process and Mechanical Engineers in WSP's Process & New Energy team that specializes in power and energy projects (steam cycle, gas, diesel, waste to energy, geothermal, and waste heat recovery), hydropower, new energy (such as hydrogen), and energy storage (such as compressed air).
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Lead a team of process and mechanical engineers to undertake a broad range of power & energy engineering projects. Undertake business development activities including development of the team's strategy. Grow the company's capability to deliver projects in industrial processes and new energy technologies. Identify and pursue opportunities, leading and directing proposal strategy and development. Develop and maintain client relationships. Develop and mentor staff, ensuring success of our people and business. Exhibit and promote a positive health, safety, environment and quality culture. Lead and deliver technical outcomes for power and energy projects new and currently under development. Provide technical advisory for refurbishment / operation / asset management / maintenance projects for industrial, power and energy facilities. Ensure engineering outcomes meet client needs, regulatory requirements, quality and purpose. Monitor and manage multi-disciplinary projects, working collaboratively with all parts of the WSP business and applying business systems. Administer project and team commercial metrics. About you:
Experience in a consultancy environment and/or experience in industrial processes or new energy projects. Experience in a lead position. Experience as a team lead beneficial. Bachelor's level degree in Chemical / Process or Mechanical Engineering. Chartered engineering status and/or state-based registration qualification (RPEQ, RPEV). High technical aptitude gained from demonstrated project delivery. Experience in industrial processes such as gas systems, waste to energy, process systems or new / alternate energy (biogas, hydrogen). Experience in managing multiple engineering projects of varying complexity and size. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work virtually and face-to-face within a team environment. Ability to motivate and develop others. Ability to develop and maintain client relationships. Exhibit a high degree of accountability and ownership. Ability to manage self and undertake/manage multiple tasks concurrently. Established networks within the process or new energy industries. Experience and motivation to grow teams/businesses. Strong commercial acumen and experience delivering business objectives. Ability to lead and deliver projects, while liaising with internal teams and clients.
