The OpportunityCome and discover the opportunity to join our Research and Development team at Minchinbury in our BlueScope Building Components business as a Workshop Technician, Engineering Technician or R&D Tradesperson.
BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products & solutions through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteley's. Working in our NATA accredited development & testing facility, this is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in ensuring we deliver superior steel building products to the Australian building and construction market.
Located in our R&D facility, a large-scale testing & prototyping environment, you will get to construct prototypes such as walls, roofs, façades and building systems that will be used for product performance testing, prototyping and displays. The ability to solve problems and help develop new ways to build is an important part of this role.
Your role can also include operating purpose-built test equipment to conduct strength and performance testing, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC), thereby providing better solutions for our customers.

What Will You Do?Using your skills and expertise in building, engineering or related industries, you will work alongside the current team to:
Complete test builds and installations of our building products & systems in accordance with industry codes and Australian Standards, using supplied drawings and schematics.Support the development of new & innovative building systems and solutions.Perform testing of prototypes with R&D engineers.Deconstruct test samples at the completion of the tests.Perform some machinery and equipment maintenance and general housekeeping.More About YouIdeally you will have practical experience from the residential or commercial building industry and are keen for your next challenge and a unique experience, working in an industrial R&D environment! Delivering high quality craftsmanship, you'll enjoy this role if you are someone who has:
Knowledge on how to use tools of the trade including portable power tools, pneumatic and hand tools.
