Job Description WHS & Wellbeing Project Officer Contract for approximately 6 months | ASAP Start Pending Police Check | Canberra Location | $75.65 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation OVERVIEW Our Government Client is currently seeking an experienced Project WHS & Wellbeing Project Officer to join their team to assist with rolling out systems across all ACT public schools, coordinating data analysis and reporting to assist with the delivery of appropriate safety supports for schools and students.
This approach includes Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), Occupational Violence, incident management, risk management, early intervention, and wellbeing aspects to ensure that our schools are safe for all.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Working collaboratively with the EI&W team in the Work Health and Safety Team as the subject matter experts to finalise the Safety and Wellbeing Action plan as part of the Draft Psychosocial Safety and Wellbeing Framework.
In collaboration with the EI&W team work with school leaders and Education Support Office (ESO) teams to develop the plans to support safety and wellbeing in alignment with the relevant legislation, frameworks, policy, procedures and templates.
Developing and reviewing current procedures and practices related to Work Health and Safety and wellbeing and working closely with various SMEs to ensure alignment with related policies and procedures.
Preparing briefs and reporting as required.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and staff at all levels, establishing proactive and cooperative relationships to progress projects as required.
Working participatively within a small team, contributing to the Project Management Office, both as a team member and individually with limited supervision.
Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification that contribute to the Directorate; and modelling values and signature behaviours to create an environment that values and utilises the contribution of others.
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS Demonstrated experience developing policy and programs in the government context preferably related to Work Health and Safety, psychosocial safety and wellbeing initiatives and programs.
Proven ability to implement policy and procedures to apply in a WHS policy context.
High level communication skills including the ability to provide feedback, liaise and negotiate with stakeholders and produce written documentation, including briefs and reports, of a high quality with attention to detail.
Developed project management skills with a proven ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated capability in ICT, including experience managing data.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team and build and maintain productive relationships and achieve effective coordination outcomes.
Demonstrated sound judgement when reviewing policies to assist improved compliance outcomes and effective prioritisation and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
High standard of customer-focussed service and demonstrated commitment to the ACT Public Service Values and to the ongoing integration of workplace respect, equity and diversity practices and workplace health and safety principles and practices.
Desirable Experience WHS qualifications and/or WHS legislation, policy development, management and psychosocial safety and wellbeing experience in the public sector will be considered favourably.
Previous experience in working in Education.
