We are looking for a Work Health and Safety Coordinator to be part of our newly created WHS team and promote a safe and compliant work environment.
18th December, 2024Purpose of the WHS Coordinator role
The WHS Coordinator is entrusted with implementing the Work Health and Safety Management System.
This role involves coordinating regular site inspections, conducting audits, and recommending corrective actions to foster a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with legislations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
Note: due to the holiday season, applications will only be reviewed in January.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the WHS Manager and operational leaders to develop, implement, and monitor WHS solutions and improvement initiatives.Conduct regular site visits to perform audits, inspections, and observations, ensuring adherence to WHS company policies, procedures, legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.Escalate medium-high risk matters through established processes, including risk assessments and briefing notes.Lead WHS investigations following the Investigation Guide, including providing support to those involved in the process.Coordinate WHS initiatives across the business and ensure stakeholders are engaged and supported during the process.Review the effectiveness of Achieve Australia's WHS policies, procedures, practices and make improvement recommendations.Assist the organisation in reviewing and improving tools for managing risk, including hazards and incidents.
Research and develop recommendations to address local WHS issues.Support the implementation of processes and systems requiring WHS involvement, such as Emergency Management, Risk Management, and NDIS Practice Standards safety requirements.To be successful in this role, you will need: Demonstrated experience in Work Health and Safety coordination, ideally with experience in disability and social care sectors.Strong relationship management, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements related to Health and Safety.Familiarity with the NDIS Practice Standards relevant to Health and Safety.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and WHS databases.Achieve Australia has been supporting people with disability for 70 years.
