Work And Study Officer

Job Details: Fixed term to 30/06/2025 - full time, 76 hours per fortnight located in Kalgoorlie Salary $43.08 + $2.78 p/hr regional allowance Working Monday to Friday About the opportunity: The role will provide Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services to young people with mental illness from 15 up to the age of 25. The Work and Study Officer will provide career advice, vocational and employment assistance in tandem with the headspace clinical team to ensure these young people can maintain participation in vocational education and employment.
The role will be integrated with the headspace multi-disciplinary team and will include extensive contact with employers, training providers, educational institutions, community service organisations, and other health professionals.
Requirements of the Role: Provide specialised individual career development services that support young people and adhere to principles of IPS Manage a case load of up to 20 active participants Assist young people to identify their educational and employment goals and co-design a career profile and individual employment plan with young people, with input from their clinical team Assist participants to apply for jobs and contact employers Assist young people to attend job service provider and Centrelink appointments if applicable Advocate on behalf of young people with other stakeholders and employers as required Develop a broad range of employer relationships in the local community to ensure suitable job matches, and provide employers appropriate education and support Liaise with Disability Employment Services (DES) or job active providers where applicable Attend networking meetings and appointments with employers, community service organisations, and education providers to create opportunities for young people Provide support and education to employers in how to best support young people in the workplace Provide post-placement and in-work support to participants and employers as required Participate in Care Plan and Case Review meetings and participate in planned case conferences involved in the client's care as required In collaboration with Work and Study Coordinator and Centre Manager, provide support, develop and deliver activities that promote skills for the headspace Kalgoorlie Youth Advisory Group and ensure members are provided appropriate headspace orientation, training opportunities and individual wellbeing plans About you: Tertiary qualifications including relevant professional registration as required and/or experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, career development or a related field Experience working with young people with mental health needs or disabilities Extensive knowledge of issues that impact young people when accessing employment and/or educational opportunities An understanding of the Individual Placement and Support model Experience developing good business relationships Knowledge of the employment services sector, or employment related services, relevant legislation and local labour market trends, Centrelink and other state and federal employment initiatives that impact young people Desirable Criteria: Experience working in Job Active or Disability Employment Services Experience providing career planning advice to young people Experience working with people with mental ill health Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working With Children card, Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable work referees.
